The Peace killers. Directed by Douglass Schwarz. (1971).
Here’s a movie that’s been a bitch to track down that is---until it showed up at my local record store on blu ray and funnily enough also on Tubi! This is in the category of hippie-sploitation or biker-sploitation. This was directed by Schwarz who later went onto Baywatch (1989).
The fuzz is chasing down an as of yet unnamed biker gang during the credits. The last great biker flick I watched in the DR catalog was Northville Cemetery Massacre, so my expectations are pretty low. Instead of Mike Nesmith or Davie Allen and the Arrows we get Ruth Friedmann oh joy!

Jeff is really protective/ horny toward his sister Kristy played by Jess Walton who acted in lots of tv shows like the Young and the Restless. Stop the presses, Holy Shit, Jeff is played by Michael Ontkean from Twin Peaks! Somehow I watched this entire film and didn't recognize him, guess it's time to float me out to sea on an iceberg or update my glasses prescription.

One cocked-eyed hairy mother named Cowboy (John Raymond Taylor) is lusting after sister Kristy. I guess the whole town is, since so far she’s the only girl in Peace Killers.

These rebel flag favoring bikers roll literal dirt weed on the dirty ground. Kristy mentions how they are a gang of vicious rapists and plan to assault her next for leaving Rebel the leader. Reb even has his own harmonica theme song with lyrics about blood dripping from his hands! This song might make you unintentionally giggle. Reb is played by Clint Richie, who was in A Force of One (1979) with Chuck Norris.

Kristy's character is involved with a low level cult leader played by Paul Prokop. Gadget is a gang member who sort of resembles Tim Buckley. He orders a girl to get topless and we see boobs! There’s a psychedelic nightmare rape flashback that Kristy keeps envisioning peppered with tortured faces and screams. The bikers hang the cult leader on a large peace sign and pelt him with dirt! Prokop mysteriously died at 42 and it seems that the details are undisclosed.

Poor Kristy gets doused in order to trip with Deathrow----whatever that means. Next they drag her body between two bikes drawn and quarter style.A mixed race gang finds Kristy in the street.
This movie is like able and often menacing but also tame. People get threatened severely but then no real sense of danger is present. It’s a unique biker flick for sure. If you like Roger Corman style motor cycle fascists you may appreciate this one.Peace Killers has a down home 70's style with an undertone of dread. Available on a blu-ray from Scorpion Releasing and to stream on TUBI.
